Marquette Falters on the Road at St. John's, 6-1

FLUSHING, N.Y.--The Marquette women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at St. John's on Friday at the USTA National Tennis Center. The Golden Eagles received their lone point from Paula Tormos Sanchez as she continued her excellent play at the No. 4 position.

Tormos Sanchez holds an 11-3 record in dual match singles play at the No. 4 position and is 1-2 when playing on the No. 3 court. On Friday, she was pushed to three sets in singles, but pulled out a 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 overall victory.

The Golden Eagles dropped the singles point for the first time in seven matches, but had a win at the No. 2 position as Tormos Sanchez and Diana Tokar earned a swift 6-0 sweep.

MU will look to bounce back and snap the two-match skid on Saturday as the squad travels to Seton Hall. First serve is slated for Noon Central time in New Jersey.
