Marquette Falls at No. 69 DePaul, 5-2

CHICAGO - The Marquette University women's tennis team closed out the regular season with a 5-2 loss at No. 69 DePaul Saturday afternoon in Chicago. Olga Fischer and Ana Pimienta each picked up singles wins for the Golden Eagles. Marquette (11-10) fought hard in doubles play but ultimately came up short as DePaul (14-6) claimed all three doubles matches to jump out to the early lead. The tandems of Rocio Diaz and Pimienta at No. 2, and Ali Dawson and Gillian Hush at No. 3 both fell 8-6 to their respective Blue Demon counterparts, while the No. 1 duo of Tina Radan and Fischer lost 8-5 to the No. 79 ranked pair of Jasmin Kling and Gia McKnight. In singles play, DePaul earned wins at the No. 2, 4 and 6 spots to secure its 14th win of the season. Highlighting the afternoon for the Golden Eagles was Fischer's win at No. 1 and Pimienta's win at No. 5. Fischer fought for a 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 win over Patricia Fargas, and Pimienta pulled out a 6-4, 6-7, 12-10 decision against Carolin Neumann. The Golden Eagles complete the regular season 11-10 overall and await its seeding in the BIG EAST Conference Championship, which begins Thursday, April 19 in Tampa, Fla. #69 DePaul 5, Marquette 2
