Marquette Falls in 4-3 Decision at St. John's

QUEENS, N.Y.--The Marquette women's tennis team saw its six-match winning streak come to an end on Sunday as the Golden Eagles dropped a 4-3 battle at St. John's. The Golden Eagles (11-8) got on the board first, claiming the doubles point as Fleur Eggink and Natalija Popovic earned a 6-3 win at the No. 1 position and Paula Tormos Sanchez and Andrea Amortegui took a 6-1 victory at the No. 2 court. In singles action Marquette saw victories on courts No. 2 and No. 4 as Popovic won her match, 6-4, 7-5, and Amortegui earned a swift 6-1, 6-4 decision, respectively.
The Golden Eagles have on final regular season match remaining and will host league foe DePaul on Saturday, April 21 at 1 p.m. CT at Helfaer Tennis Stadium. The squad will honor lone senior, Tormos Sanchez prior to the match.
