No. 22 DePaul Clips Marquette, 6-1

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Marquette women's tennis team jumped out to an early lead, but could not sustain it as the Golden Eagles fell to No. 22 DePaul, 6-1, Saturday at Notre Dame's Courtney Tennis Center.
With the loss, the Golden Eagles fall to 12-12 overall on the season with one regular-season match remaining before the start of the BIG EAST Championships April 22-25.
Marquette lone point of the day came in doubles action as MU's No. 2 and No. 3 duos defeated their respective DePaul counterparts.
The No. 2 tandem of sophomores Paola Calderon and Gillian Hush took down Katrina Milinkovic and Sandra Zmak, 8-5, while Christina Ruiz and Kelly Barry teamed up to defeat Kristen Gambrell and Gia McKnight, 8-4, at No. 3.
DePaul secured the win with singles wins at No. 5, 1, 6 and 3. After the match had already been decided, sophomore Olga Fischer would not back down against Selma Salkovic at No. 2. Fischer won the first set 6-2, but Salkovic held on to take the second set, 6-4, and the tiebreaker 11-9.
The Golden Eagles close out the regular season Sunday at No. 5 Notre Dame.
