Marquette Tops Seton Hall, 6-1

MILWAUKEE--The Marquette University women's tennis squad (11-10) finished the regular season in style with a 6-1 victory over Seton Hall on Sunday morning at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
"It was a great way to end senior day with a big win over Seton Hall," head coach Jody Bronson said. "We are very proud of the seniors for all they have given Marquette both on court and in the classroom."
Marquette got off to a strong start sweeping doubles to claim the match's first point of the day. The No. 1 tandem Ana Pimienta and Erin Gebes notched an 8-4 victory, while Ali Dawson and Aleeza Kanner earned an 8-1 decision on the No. 2 court. Paula Tormos Sanchez and Diana Tokar claimed a victory after Seton Hall's duo had to retire due to injury.
In singles play MU took control and clinched a victory quickly. Tokar finished first in the No. 3 position with a 6-1, 6-3 win over the Pirates, while Dawson was close behind her with a 6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 4 singles. Pimienta used a 6-1, 6-3 decision in the No. 1 spot to clinch the match for the Golden Eagles; a fitting decision on senior day.
Tormos Sanchez won her No. 5 match, 6-2, 6-2, while Gebes finished next, 6-3, 6-2. Foltinger dropped a close match, 6-2, 4-6, 0-1.
The Golden Eagles will wait to find out their seeding in the upcoming BIG EAST Tournament, which begins on Thursday, April 23 in Indianapolis, Ind.
