The Marquette University women's tennis squad (12-10) opened the BIG EAST Tennis Championship on a high note with a 4-0 sweep over No. 5 seed Georgetown on Friday afternoon. The No. 4 seed Golden Eagles will take on No. 1 seed DePaul on Saturday, April 25 at Noon CT at the Barbara S. Wynne Tennis Center.

MU won the doubles point to open the match as the No. 1 tandem Ana Pimienta and Erin Gebes led with a strong 8-3 decision, followed by an 8-7 (7-5) win for Ali Dawson and Aleeza Kanner on the No. 2 court.

The Golden Eagles needed just three additional points to claim the victory and Gebes secured the second with a quick 6-0, 6-2 victory at the No. 2 singles position. Vanessa Foltinger gave the Golden Eagles their third point with a 6-1, 6-3 decision on the No. 6 court. Diana Tokar clinched the match victory for Marquette as she defeated the Hoyas, 6-4, 6-4 on court three.
