No. 2 Marquette Blanks No. 10 Butler, 5-0

FLUSHING, N.Y.--The No. 2 seeded Marquette women's tennis squad (13-10) has reached the semifinals of the BIG EAST Tournament after turning in a dominant 5-0 sweep over No. 10 Butler on Friday morning at the US National Tennis Center.
MU quickly earned the doubles point after the leading tandem of Rocio Diaz and Erin Gebes defeated Kailey Eaton and Stephani McLoughlin, 8-2 and Laia Hernandez Soler and Aleeza Kanner clinched the point with an 8-5 victory at the No. 2 position. Gebes and Diaz improve to 16-5 overall this season and own a 5-2 record in the No. 1 slot.
Vanessa Foltinger rolled in singles action with consecutive sweeps over Grace Hyde at No. 3, while Ana Pimienta won her match 6-2, 6-0. Diaz clinched the victory for the Golden Eagles with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the No. 3 position. Aina Hernandez Soler was also credited with a point as she swept Butler in clean sets and finished within one minute of Diaz.
Marquette will face the winner of No. 3 Xavier/No. 6 Seton Hall in the semifinals on Saturday, April 26 at 8 a.m. CT.
