Golden Eagles Finish Fourth at BIG EAST Women's Tennis Championship

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Third-seeded DePaul garnered points at the first four singles flights en route to a 4-3 win over Marquette University on the final day of the BIG EAST Women's Tennis Championship.

No. 4 Marquette placed fourth overall, while the Golden Eagles wrap up the 2010-11 season with a 19-11 record.

Matches were postponed due to weather earlier in the day. When play resumed, the Golden Eagles went on to claim a pair of doubles victories. Christina Ruiz and Rachael Hush took an 8-4 decision at No. 1 doubles and Gillian Hush and Chelsea Utting won 8-5 at the No. 3 slot.

Ruiz and Utting earned MU's only singles points on the day. Ruiz defeated Samantha Kaneta 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5 singles and Utting posted a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Selma Salkovic at the No. 6 position.
