Marquette Continues Hoosier Classic
Sept. 26, 2015
BLOOMINGTON, Ind.--The Marquette University women's tennis team continued play the Hoosier Classic on Saturday at the Varsity Tennis Courts on the campus of Indiana University.
Under another beautiful fall day, freshman Silvia Ambrosio bested Barbare Eristavi from Western Michigan in a come-from-behind, 5-7, 7-6, 1-0 (10) victory and advanced to the final of Flight 1 to be played on Sunday.
Senior Aleeza Kanner also advanced to the singles final of Flight 4 after her opponent retired. She will face Katja Fevralev of Western Michigan on Sunday.
The doubles bracket was switched around to avoid having opponents play from the same teams and the duo of Ambrosio and Erin Gebes earned a 6-3 win over the host Hoosiers in an extra match. Courtney Hebard and Diana Tokar teamed up for a 6-4 victory over Western Michigan, also in the third round of the extra matches.
Marquette will have one final day of play and conclude the Hoosier Classic on Sunday.
