MU Completes Day Two at Cal Nike Invitational

BERKELEY, Calif.--The Marquette women's tennis squad concluded the second day of play at the Cal Nike Invitational on Saturday, hosted by the University of California.
In round robin singles action, junior Ana Pimienta easily defeated Luisa Ortiz from Santa Barbara, 6-0, 6-1. Pimienta teamed up with sophomore Erin Gebes in the blue doubles consolation flight and used extra games to defeat a team from BYU, 9-8 (5). Following that match, the duo defeated Fresno State, 8-6 in the consolation semifinals.
Junior Vanessa Foltinger defeated Melissa Baker from Santa Barbara in white singles consolations after falling behind, 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10), while Gebes won her singles flight in gold consolation quarterfinals, 6-1, 6-4.
The Golden Eagles have one last day of competition at the Cal Nike Invitational, beginning at Noon CT in Berkeley.
