Day 1 Results Get Acrobat Reader

TUCSON, Ariz.--The Marquette University women's tennis team enjoyed a day of warm weather on the courts in the first day of the Arizona Wildcat Invitational on Friday.

Freshmen duo Leoni Daems and Courtney Hebard teamed up to open the day with an 8-3 victory over a squad from UTEP in doubles flight #2.

In singles action, senior Erin Gebes faltered in her opening match, but bounced back for a 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 victory over her Tulane opponent in the red draw. Diana Tokar won her first match in the blue draw, 6-2, 6-4 before falling in the second round, while Paula Tormos Sanchez also won her opening match in the white draw, an easy 6-1, 6-0 victory over her opponent from Pima CC.

The Arizona Wildcat Invitational return on Saturday morning for doubles and singles play.
