Kelly Barry and Rachael Hush Capture Wins on Final Day of Wolverine Invitational

MILWAUKEE -

The Marquette women's tennis team closed out action Sunday afternoon at the Wolverine Invitational, led by senior Elly Strother who competed in the final matches of the Wolverine Draw.

Strother fell to Michigan's Wig in the third place match, 6-0, 6-0.

In consolation play, EMU's Chang defeated junior Christina Ruiz (6-0, 6-1), sophomore Olga Fischer fell to Miami of Ohio's Danesis (6-2, 7-5), and sophomore Gillian Hush battled against WMU's Denny but could not close out the match (6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7)).

Junior Rachael Hush and freshman Kelly Barry each closed out the University of Michigan tournament with wins in consolation matches. Hush defeated Miami of Ohio's Wald in a hard-fought match (7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (10-3)) while Barry dominated in a win over WMU's Matsuto (6-2, 6-0).

The Golden Eagles will return to action October 22 through 25 at the ITA Region II Championships in Evanston, Ill. and Champaign, Ill.
