Golden Eagles Conclude Play at SMU Invitational

Day 3 Results Get Acrobat Reader

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's tennis team concluded play at the SMU Invitational on Sunday, continuing to build on its early-season success.

In doubles play, the duo of Diana Tokar and Paula Tormos Sanchez defeated Gonzaga's team of Garley and Ketels, 7-5, to claim the title in their doubles draw.

Courtney Hebard and Fleur Eggink also claimed a 6-2 doubles victory, in Flight #4, on Sunday.

In singles action, Fleur Eggink and Tormos claimed the consolation championship in their respective singles draw. Eggink defeated Dasha Sharapova from SMU, 7-6, 6-1, while Tormos defeated Whitney Williams of Abilene Christian, 6-4, 6-2.

Marquette will look to conclude its successful fall slate when the squad travels to East Lansing, Mich. to compete in the ITA Midwest Regionals from Oct. 20-25. After the ITA's, the Golden Eagles will next compete in mid-January at the Hoosier Invitational.
