Marquette Concludes Play at Memphis Invite

MEMPHIS--The Marquette University women's tennis squad wrapped up play at the Memphis Collegiate Invite on Sunday. The Golden Eagles won two consolation final matches in singles draws.
Sophomore Erin Gebes defeated Christine Guerrazzi from Miami Ohio, 7-5, 6-1, and won the consolation final in the white singles draw. Senior Rocio Diaz also won her singles consolation final match in the orange draw with a victory over Alison Storie from Chattanooga, 6-4, 6-3.
Junior Vanessa Foltinger bested Ansley Boarman in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, on outdoor courts. Sophomore Laia Hernandez Soler finished in seventh place in the black singles draw with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Chattanooga's Kelsey Coots.
In doubles play, Foltinger and Hernandez Soler fell in the championship match, 8-2 to a duo from Tulsa.
The Golden Eagles will conclude fall play Nov. 8-10 at the WMU Super Challenge, hosted by Western Michigan.
