Women's Tennis Set for No. 19 Michigan and No. 30 Indiana

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette women's tennis team will take to the road this weekend for a pair of matches against nationally ranked foes. The Golden Eagles will first play at No. 19 Michigan on Friday, Jan. 23 at the Varsity Tennis Center at 3 p.m. CT before heading to Bloomington, Ind., for a match against No. 30 Indiana on Sunday at 9 a.m. CT.
Marquette is coming off a pair of season-opening wins on Monday, Jan. 19 at Helfaer Tennis Stadium. In a back-and-forth battle against UIC, the Golden Eagles defeated the 2007 Horizon League champions, 4-3. MU captured the doubles point and got singles wins from junior Kylie Moore, sophomore Rachael Hush and freshman Olga Fischer that clinched the victory.
The Golden Eagles completed the day with a 7-0 sweep of UW-Milwaukee. For the match, the Golden Eagles singles players outscored the Panthers 72-12.
Marquette is 1-13 all-time against both the Wolverines and the Hoosiers. MU last defeated it Big Ten counterparts during the 1999 season.
Following its match with Indiana, the Golden Eagles will open a seven-match homestand at beginning with IUPUI on Friday, Jan. 30. Doubles play will start at 5 p.m. at Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
