Women’s Tennis Adds Two Signees For 2017-18

MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women’s tennis team will be adding two standouts to its squad, as Andrea Amortegui and Natalija Popovic each signed their National Letter of Intent with Marquette, and will join the program beginning in the 2017-18 campaign.
Amortegui has experienced great success on both the state and national level. She currently is ranked 81st according to Tennis Recruiting Network, and 14th in the state of Florida. Amortegui garnered a regional singles championship, and also was a finalist in the National Selection Consolation event in which she participated. On the state level, Amortegui won has won a Florida state championship in doubles action.
Popovic joins the Golden Eagles out of Serbia, and won the Junior National Championship on two separate occasions. The Cacak, Serbia native also prevailed in the Open Selection National Championship, capturing her lone title in that event.
Popovic also was named a member of the Serbian National Tennis team in the under-12, 14, 16, and 18 categories. Her best international ranking was #36 by Tennis Europe, when she was in possession of two singles and one doubles title.
