MU Begins Road Trip Play this Weekend

MILWAUKEE- The Marquette University women's tennis team (4-3), will hit the road to take on non-conference foes Ball State and IUPUI-FW this weekend. On Saturday, the Golden Eagles will face the Cardinals with opening serve slated for noon CT. Sunday, they face IUPUI-FW starting at 9 a.m. CT.

The Golden Eagles enter the weekend of competition with a two match win streak, its most recent a 6-1 victory against Milwaukee. MU swept in doubles action and won all but one of singles play. Ana Pimienta, Vanessa Foltinger, Laia Hernandex Soler, Ali Dawson and Erin Gebes all were victories in singles and doubles.

The Ball State Cardinals (7-1) will look to continue their perfect homestand after winning their fifth match in a row against IPUI-FW last weekend. Sophomore Courtney Earnest boasts and ten match win streak after securing a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the No. 2 singles spot against IPUI-FW. The Cardinals face MU as part of its five-match homestand.

IUPUI-FW (3-5) after dropping a 6-1 decision against Ball State. Freshman Mayu Huck was the only member of the Mastodons to pick up a win at the No. 1 singles spot, with a score of 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 score.

Following the road trip, Marquette has a small break before the take on the Minnesota Gophers on Saturday, March 8 at 10 a.m. CT at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
