Women's Tennis Set For Matchup Against Iowa Saturday

MILWAUKEE-- After defeating instate-rival Wisconsin, the Marquette University women's tennis team is set to take on yet another Big Ten foe, the Iowa Hawkeyes. Action will begin Saturday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. CT in Iowa City, Iowa.

In a road victory at Wisconsin Wednesday Feb. 20, the Golden Eagles (9-3) dropped their first three doubles matches but were resilient in singles play, managing to hold on with a 4-3 victory. After splitting the first two sets, Ana Pimienta, despite facing an early deficit in third set claimed a 6-4 win to propel the Golden Eagles to victory.

The victory over the Badgers was Marquette's third consecutive victory.

Iowa (4-2) notched consecutive 7-0 sweeps against Drake and Western Illinois in a doubleheader on Saturday Feb. 16. The Hawkeyes are also in action at home this Friday afternoon against Oklahoma.

The matchup against the Hawkeyes is stop number two on the Golden Eagles current six-game road stint.
