MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women’s tennis team will host South Dakota State on Friday at Helfaer Tennis Stadium for a 5 p.m. Central time matchup.
The Golden Eagles (2-4) are coming off of a loss at Western Michigan last weekend, where Milica Novakovic and Lesley Foe scored the lone points for the Golden Eagles. MU looks to remain undefeated at home against the Jackrabbits.
South Dakota State (0-6) is searching for a victory in Milwaukee. Their most recent losses have come from Tulane and Missouri, where junior Morgan Brower won the lone point for the Jackrabbits with a No. 4 victory.
After Friday’s matchup with South Dakota State, the Golden Eagles will travel to Iowa City for a 11 a.m. first serve against the Hawkeyes. Iowa (4-3) most recently fell to Illinois, a top-25 team that's 6-1 on the season.
This will mark the Golden Eagles’ first matchup with South Dakota State in over a decade. In the 2005-06 season, Marquette came away with a 7-0 win.
Marquette and Iowa met last year and the Hawkeyes took down the Golden Eagles in a 5-2 decision.
Following Sunday’s play, the Golden Eagles will host Northern Illinois on Friday, March 2 and welcome cross-city foe Milwaukee on Saturday, March 3.
