MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's tennis team returns to action on Friday, Feb. 25, to take on Green Bay and Detroit at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium. The first match against the Phoenix will get underway at 1 p.m., while first serve is set for 7 p.m. against Detroit.

Marquette (6-4) jumped into the national rankings this week at No. 69 before it fell to Wisconsin, 6-1, on Wednesday, Feb. 23 in Madison, Wis. The Golden Eagles remain winless on the road as the Badgers snapped their five-match win streak. Senior Christina Ruiz claimed the lone point for MU, rallying back to defeat Aleksandra Markovic, 1-6, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5), at the No. 5 position.

Green Bay (0-3) dropped two matches its last time out to Northern Iowa, 0-7, and North Dakota, 1-6, on Feb. 18-19. Senior Rebecca Nelson claimed the only Phoenix point on the season by picking up a victory in singles play against the Fighting Sioux. Green Bay was shutout, 7-0, last season in its dual match against Marquette.

Detroit enters this weekend 0-7 in dual matches this season. The Titans dropped a close 4-3 decision to Dayton on Feb. 18 in Dayton, Ohio. Detroit looks to doubles partners Raina Halabi and Elena Strakhova to put the team in position for the crucial opening doubles point. The tandem has captured four victories at the No. 3 spot this season.

The Golden Eagles have won their last five home matches and are currently 6-1 when playing in the friendly confines of the Helfaer Tennis Stadium. MU is 2-0 against Horizon League opponents this season, picking up victories against UIC, 4-3, on Jan. 23 and Milwaukee, 7-0, on Feb. 13.
