Women's Tennis to Host Miami (Ohio) Wednesday Afternoon

MILWAUKEE - In a rare mid-week match, Marquette women's tennis will host Miami (Ohio) on Wednesday, March 3 at 1:30 p.m. at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium. Marquette (8-6) is coming off a Saturday split against Wisconsin and Milwaukee, recording a 7-0 win over the Panthers after falling to the Badgers, 5-2. Sophomore Paola Calderon went 3-1 on Saturday, including two singles wins at No. 1. Classmate Gillian Hush earned two singles wins this season, and now boasts an 11-3 spring record. The RedHawks have tallied a 5-2 record this spring, including 7-0 sweeps of Butler and Detroit. Junior Anastasia Dracheva, a native of Moscow, Russia, is a reigning first team All-MAC selection, and classmate Cara Wald earned a place on the 2008 All-MAC Tournament team. Miami (Ohio) won the 2009 Mid-American Conference Women's Tennis Championships a season ago and advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament with an automatic bid. Head coach Ricardo Rosas' squad was selected to finish second in the league behind Akron this season.
