Marquette Heads To Florida For A Pair Of Matches

MILWAUKEE- The Marquette University women's tennis team will continue its season-long six-game road trip when it heads to Florida for a pair of matches with University of South Florida on Monday, March 14 at 10 a.m. and University of Central Florida on Wednesday, March 16 at 1 p.m.
Marquette (10-4) has won its last four matches, including two road wins against BIG EAST opponents Seton Hall (7-0) and Rutgers (4-3) on March 4 and March 6, respectively. After dropping the opening set against the Scarlet Knights, Olga Fischer rallied in to win at the No. 2 spot, 5-7, 7-6 (4), 6-1, and break the 3-3 tie to give MU a 4-3 victory. Freshman Rocio Diaz has been a spark for the Golden Eagles recently by claiming five-straight victories in singles play.
USF, ranked No. 55 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, is coming off a win over then-No. 22 Florida State, 5-2, on March 6. Irene Rehberger, a 2010 women's tennis All-BIG EAST Team member, is tabbed as the No. 43 individual by the ITA and competes in the No. 1 singles spot. The Bulls (3-7) have yet to drop a match at home this spring and will host Clemson on Friday, March 11 before welcoming Marquette.
UCF (4-5) had dropped two of its last three during a season-long four match homestand. Doubles partners Courtney Griffith and Genevieve Lorbergs are 5-4 in dual matches and have faced three nationally-ranked opponents this season.
