Marquette Heads West for Spring Break

MILWAUKEE-- The Marquette women’s tennis team is California-bound for a two-game road trip against UC Riverside and Cal State Northridge, with the first contest scheduled for Tuesday, March 12 at 3:30 p.m. Central time.

MU is coming off a 7-0 home victory against Drake to improve to a 6-4 overall record this season. The Golden Eagles were led in doubles play by Silvia Ambrosio and Fleur Eggink. The top pair won their game 6-3. Ambrosio continued to ride the momentum into singles play, as she won her singles contest 6-1 and 6-3.

The Golden Eagles will face UC Riverside on Tuesday. The Highlanders enter the matchup on a three-game winning streak, with the last victory coming against Valparaiso, 5-2. UC Riverside has played to a 4-7 overall record and is 4-3 at home this season.

MU will have a quick turnaround and will travel to Cal State Northridge on Thursday, March 14 at 4 p.m. Central time. The Matadors picked up a 7-0 victory against South Dakota State, which improved their record to 6-5 on the season.

Head coach Jody Bronson is sitting at 399 career victories and will look for a historic 400th win while in California.

After the West coast road trip, MU will begin BIG EAST play on Sunday, March 19 at Xavier.
