March 20, 2014

MILWAUKEE--The Marquette University women's tennis team will return home following a spring break trip to host a doubleheader with Illinois State and IUPUI on Friday at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium. The contest against the Redbirds will begin at 1 p.m. Central time, followed by a 6 p.m. meeting with IUPUI at 7 p.m.

MU (6-6) dropped a pair of contests last week on its spring break at UNLV and against Ohio State. Against UNLV, sophomore Erin Gebes won her No. 3 singles match and is now 5-2 this year at that position. Classmate Laia Hernandez Soler also claimed a singles victory, in the No. 5 position. Gebes and senior Rocio Diaz have a 5-2 season record at No. 2 doubles.

Illinois State and Marquette have played seven times in recent seasons with the Golden Eagles earning the victory in all seven matches. The Redbirds are 7-4 this season after defeating Milwaukee last weekend. ISU is 5-3 away from its home court.

IUPUI comes to Milwaukee with just a 1-11 overall record; the lone win coming in a 4-2 victory over Dayton on March 1.

Following the doubleheader, Marquette travels to Notre Dame on Wednesday, March 26. First serve begins at 3:30 p.m. CT.
