Marquette Faces Cincinnati on Wednesday

MILWAUKEE--The Marquette women’s tennis team is taking advantage of spring break and will play two contests in Florida this week, beginning with a neutral-court match against former BIG EAST opponent, Cincinnati. The match will take place in Orlando on Wednesday, March 23 at Noon Central time.

The Golden Eagles (8-4) are riding a three-match win streak, which dates back to a March 5 road contest at Drake. MU easily handled opponents Illinois State and Butler with 6-1 and 7-0 match victories, respectively, over the past weekend.

Marquette Falls 4-3 in Close Match at Cincinnati
The Marquette women's tennis team (9-7) lost a narrow 4-3 decision to former conference foe Cincinnati on Sunday afternoon.

The Bearcats are 7-4 overall this season with two of those four losses coming at the hands of ranked opponents, most recently a 7-0 sweep by then-No. 2 Ohio State on March 9. Cincinnati will play USF on Tuesday, prior to meeting MU. Ali Mller is 10-1 this season in singles action with seven wins on court No. 1, while Lauren Bellinger has eight singles wins this season with a pair on court No. 1 and six on court No. 2.

Marquette has earned wins over Cincinnati in three of the past four seasons, dropping a 4-3 decision on the Bearcats’ court last year.

Following this match, the Golden Eagles will play at Florida Atlantic on Saturday, March 26 at Noon CT.
