Women's Tennis Set to Host Cincinnati and Louisville
March 29, 2012
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's tennis team will complete the home portion of the 2012 dual season this weekend when it hosts Cincinnati and Louisville at Helfaer Tennis Stadium. The Golden Eagles will take on Cincinnati on Friday, March 30 at 4 p.m., and will host Louisville on Sunday, April 1 at 10 a.m.
The team will honor graduate student Tina Radan and seniors Gillian Hush and Olga Fischer prior to Sunday's match against the Cardinals. Students in attendance at Sunday's match can enter to an iPad and an iPod Nano, but must have valid MU identification and be present to win either prize.
The Golden Eagles (10-6) will look to rebound after a 7-0 loss to No. 17 Notre Dame last Sunday. Fischer and Hush lead Marquette with 17 singles wins apiece, and have paired for an 8-7 mark at No. 1 doubles.
The Bearcats (6-11) head to Milwaukee as winners of their last two matches against Augustana (7-0) and UW-Milwaukee (6-1). Ashleigh Witte is the lone Bearcat with a winning singles record as she owns a 9-8 overall mark, with all nine wins coming at the No. 3 singles position.
Louisville earned two decisive wins over Xavier and Eastern Michigan in its last weekend of play to improve to 8-7 overall. Sarah Miller has collected a team-best 8-2 mark with wins coming at No. 4, 5, and 6 singles.
