March 31, 2010
MILWAUKEE - With just five matches left on the schedule until the BIG EAST Tournament, the Marquette women's tennis team looks to tally key wins at No. 31 Oklahoma and at Wichita State this week. The Golden Eagles travel to Norman, Okla. for a Thursday match with the Sooners at 3:30 p.m., before taking on Wichita State in Wichita, Kan. at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
Marquette (11-9) is looking to snap its two-match skid, both 4-3 losses at San Francisco and Santa Clara. Five Golden Eagles have recorded double-digit singles wins in the spring season, led by sophomore Gillian Hush with 22. Both Gillian and sister junior Rachael Hush hail from Wichita, the site of Saturday's match. The elder Hush has paired with classmate Christina Ruiz to win 23 overall matches, 15 in the dual season.
No. 31 Oklahoma (12-2) is led by a duo of nationally ranked student-athletes, No. 90 Ana-Maria Constantinescu and the No. 21 doubles team of Constantinescu and Teona Tsertvadze. The Sooners opened the season with seven consecutive wins, and have won five of their last six.
Wichita State (6-10) has a doubles team ranked at No. 22 by ITA in sophomore Delia Damaschin and senior Stephanie Dalmacio. Sophomore Lutfiana Budiharto is ranked No. 33 in singles, boasting a 24-6 overall record. Dalmacio leads the Shockers with a 12-4 dual singles record.
