Golden Eagles Head to Chicago to Play No. 3 Notre Dame and No. 39 DePaul

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette women's tennis team will hit the road this weekend for a pair of BIG EAST Conference matches in Chicago, Ill. The Golden Eagles will play No. 39 DePaul Saturday, April 4 at 2 p.m., and take on No. 3 Notre Dame on Sunday, April 5 at 1 p.m. Both matches will be played Lakeshore Athletic Club.

The Golden Eagles (15-6, 5-0 BIG EAST) head into the match with the Blue Demons with a three-match win streak under their belts and have won five of the last six matches. Olga Fischer leads the team in singles play, with a 16-5 dual record (12-3 at the No. 2 spot), and has won her last three matches. The doubles pair of sophomore Rachael Hush and freshman Gillian Hush lead the squad in doubles wins, with a 10-3 dual record, all from the No. 3 position.

DePaul (16-3, 2-0 BIG EAST) opened the season at No. 62, were ranked a season-high No. 28 the week of March 24 by ITA, but fell this week to No. 39 . The Blue Demons' three losses have come to teams all ranked No. 24 at the time of the match. Coach Mark Ardizzone, in his 13th season at DePaul, has led his squad to 11 shutout wins, including six of the last eight dual matches.

Notre Dame (17-2) began the season with six consecutive wins before 4-3 loss at No. 7 Georgia Tech on March 14. Since then the Irish has gone 3-1 in dual play suffering its second defeat of the season against No. 4 Baylor. Senior Kelcy Tefft (20-11 overall, 10-6 dual) and freshman Kristy Frilling (20-6 overall, 12-5 dual) are ranked No. 35 and 36, respectively in singles play by ITA. Tefft and Frilling have also combined in doubles play and are recognized as No. 3 nationally with their 26-2 overall and 13-1 dual record. Teft and partner Kali Krisik (8-2 overall, 2-1 dual) have teamed to earn a No. 7 national ranking.
