Women's Tennis Begins Three-Match Road Trip Saturday

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's tennis team will begin a three-match road swing this weekend when it heads to Tampa, Fla., for contests with Virginia Commonwealth and USF. MU will face VCU on Saturday, April 7 at 10 a.m. CT, before squaring off with the Bulls on Sunday, April 8 at 2 p.m. CT.

Marquette (11-7) finished the home portion of its regular season last weekend by splitting matches with Cincinnati and Louisville. The Golden Eagles earned a dominant, 6-1, victory over the Bearcats (March 30), with five players picking up singles victories. U of L spoiled Marquette's Senior Day festivities two days later with a 6-1 decision over the Golden Eagles.

VCU (13-4) enters this weekend's play ranked No. 48, and having won four consecutive matches dating back to March 4. The Rams are led by reigning Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week, Olga Terteac. The sophomore has posted a 10-3 singles mark this spring and is currently on a four-match win streak.

USF (12-5) has picked up wins in its last five matches, including victories over then- No. 45 Boston College (March 7) and then-No.70 Maryland (March 11). Led by junior Ecaterina Vasenina's 11-5 singles mark at the No. 1 position, the Bulls have compiled a 60-38 singles record in dual play.

Before taking on Marquette, USF will have two matches on April 6 (UNC Wilmington and VCU) and one on April 8 (Georgia State).

After the pair of matches in the Sunshine State, MU will head to DePaul on Saturday, April 14 to conclude regular season play
