Marquette Hosts Cincinnati and Chicago State Friday

MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women’s tennis team will conclude its regular season home matchups as they host a doubleheader this Friday, April 11. First serve is slated for 11 a.m. Central time against Cincinnati and ending with Chicago State at 5 p.m. CT. Senior Rocio Diaz will be honored for Senior Night prior to the 5 p.m. match.

The Golden Eagles are heading into Friday after losing two on the road this past weekend at Arkansas State and No. 41 Memphis. MU fell short to the Red Wolves 4-3, but earned victories at both the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles slots. Sophomore Erin Gebes improved to 11-7 overall in dual competition with a No. 3 singles victory. Against the top-50 ranked Memphis Tigers, the squad was unable to earn a victory and was swept 7-0.

Chicago State is heading into Friday’s competition coming off a 5-2 victory over Northern Kentucky. The Cougars are 6-15 on the year and 2-6 on the road.

The Cincinnati Bearcats are also heading into the match against MU with a most recent loss to No. 71 Marshall on the road, 6-1. The Bearcats stand at 9-11 overall, 3-7 on the road.

MU will close out the season on the road against DePaul on April 19 before heading to New York for the BIG EAST Championships, beginning April 24.
