MU Hosts DePaul and No. 22 Notre Dame This Weekend

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's tennis will close out the regular season this weekend at Helfaer Tennis Stadium when it hosts DePaul on Friday, April 15 and No. 22 Notre Dame on Sunday, April 17. Action against the Blue Demons begins at 4 p.m., while play Sunday against the Fighting Irish starts at 10 a.m.
Seniors Rachael Hush and Christina Ruiz will be recognized in a prematch ceremony before play against DePaul begins. The two have partnered to record an 84-17 career doubles record, and also own 110 overall singles wins combined.
MU (17-7) carries a seven-match winning streak into the last weekend of the regular season, including recent wins over Connecticut, West Virginia, and Providence. Six Golden Eagles have collected double-digit single wins in the spring season, led by Olga Fischer's 14 wins from No. 1 and 2. The doubles pair of Rachael Hush and Ruiz have teamed for 11 straight doubles wins and own a team-best 21-3 record at No. 1
The Blue Demons enter the weekend with an 11-9 mark and have lost three of their last four matches. DePaul opened the season ranked No. 35 in the ITA polls before falling out of the rankings on March 15. The doubles pair of McKnight and Milinkovic (9-7) have been in and out of the rankings, peaking at No. 55 on Feb. 14. Christina Raymond leads the Blue Demons with 11 singles wins.
Notre Dame (11-9), ranked No. 22 in the most recent ITA polls, is led by nationally-ranked singles players Kristy Frilling (No. 5), Shannon Mathews (No. 64), and Jennifer Kellner (No. 95). Frilling leads the Irish with 23-4 singles record.
