MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's tennis team held its annual postseason awards banquet Thursday night to honor the squad's 2010-11 accomplishments. Freshman Rocio Diaz, junior Olga Fischer and seniors Rachael Hush and Christina Ruiz were honored for their work on and off the court.

Fischer was named the team's Most Valuable Player, Ruiz earned the team's Academic and Sportsmanship awards, Diaz took home Most Improved Player honors, and Hush earned the team's Dedication Award. The Golden Eagles finished the 2011 dual season, 19-11 overall and finished fourth at the BIG EAST Conference Championship.

Diaz shined in the dual portion of the season earning a 12-4 singles record and an 11-4 doubles mark with partner Olga Fischer. The duo teamed up for the final 16 matches of the season and earned critical wins over Cincinnati, Notre Dame and Louisville in the conference tournament.

Fischer earned a 20-18 overall record, including a 10-6 mark at No. 1 singles. After dabbling between No. 1 and No. 2 early on in the dual season, Fischer moved to No. 1 on April 3 and rattled off five straight wins before a three-set loss at Providence.

Hush fought through injury to team with Ruiz and claim a 23-5 mark at No. 1 doubles and 29 overall doubles wins, which ties the third-best single season mark in program history. She played 20 singles matches and earned a 6-6 combined dual record at Nos. 3-6 singles.

Ruiz will leave Marquette as one of its most successful doubles players, matching a program best 98 wins for her career. She teamed with Hush to post a 29-9 overall mark in 2010-11, which stands tied for third all-time on the single-season doubles wins list.
