Marquette Tennis Hosts 36th Annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic

The Marquette men's and women's tennis teams will open their respective 2011-12 seasons by hosting the 36th Annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic, Sept. 16-18, at The Town Club in Milwaukee, Wis.
The Marquette men's squad will welcome Ball State, Northwestern and Wisconsin, while the women's side will host Kansas State, South Carolina and Western Michigan.
Matches will get underway at 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept.16 and conclude Sunday afternoon. Admission to the competition is free.
"The Milwaukee Tennis Classic is a special event to be a part of and we are very happy to return to the Town Club," said Marquette men's head tennis coach Steve Rodecap. "The environment of this tournament is the best that we will play in all fall and is something that our players always look forward to competing in."
Each men's and women's program will participate in both singles and doubles events this weekend. A point system will be used to crown champions in singles and doubles play. The Mulcahy Sportsmanship Award will be given out to athletes on both the men's and women's side.
"Our team is very excited to be opening our season with the Milwaukee Tennis Classic," Marquette women's tennis head coach Jody Bronson said. "Our team has been working very hard in preparation for the great competition that will be represented at the event."
