Women's Tennis Continues Fall Play at the Spartan Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Marquette University women's tennis team will compete in the 2011 Spartan Invitational on the campus of Michigan State University Friday, Sept. 23-25. The women will send six student-athletes to the tournament, with play beginning at 9 a.m. ET/ 8.a.m. CT at the MSU Tennis Facility.
In singles play, Olga Fisher will take on will take on Michigan State's Olga Chernova in Draw A. In Draw B, Ali Dawson will face Manuela Velasquez of Louisville and Gillian Hush will challenge Sarah Miller, also of Louisville. In draw C, Kristina Radan will face off against Kathryn Sharples of Illinois-Chicago and Rocio Diaz has a first round bye.
In the doubles brackets, the tandem of Fischer and Diaz will oppose IPFW's Alex Forsyth and Marcy Huck in Draw A. Also in Draw A, Hush and Dawson will matchup against Zara Harutyunyan and Prang Pantusart of Akron. In draw B, Ana Pimienta and Kristina Radan will take on the UIC tandem of Jana Knoppe and Linda Hricistova.
The women are coming off a fair showing at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, where Fischer, Dawson, and Radan each won two singles matches.
Along with MU and Michigan State, eight schools will compete this weekend, including Akron, UIC, IPFW, Louisville, Michigan, and Purdue.
