MU Wraps Up Day Two At Spartan Invitational

EAST LANSING - The Marquette University women's tennis team competed in a pair of doubles matches and one singles match during day two of the Spartan Invitational on Saturday.

Senior Olga Fischer won a back-and-fourth battle over A. Dushkina of Purdue, 1-6, 6-1, 10-3, to advance in the Round Two Losers' bracket of Draw A.

After advancing in the Draw A Doubles winners' bracket on day one, Rocio Diaz and Olga Fischer lost to UIC's Kovaleva and Craig, 8-4, in round two. Ali Dawson and Gillian Hush advanced by default in losers' bracket before falling to IPFW's Henestrosa and Dennis.

Dawson and Hush each picked up victories in Draw B and will face each other in the consolation bracket title match tomorrow. Dawson beat UIC's J. Knope, 6-1, 6-2, while Hush downed Louisville's A. Harris, 6-2, 6-1.

In Draw C, Kristina Radan dropped a close, 1-6, 6-4 (10-9), match to Louisville's G. Duncan in round three of the consolation bracket.

The Golden Eagles will wrap up play at the Spartan Invitational on Sunday beginning at 8 a.m. CT.
