Singles Wins Highlight Day Two at Spartan Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Gillian Hush and Chelsea Utting claimed singles win for the Marquette women's tennis team on day two of play at the Spartan Invitational hosted by Michigan State Saturday.

Utting defeated Louisville's Stefanie Villiajuan in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, while Hush took down Villianjuan's teammate, Sarah Miller, 6-2, 6-0.

In doubles action, Rachael Hush and Christina Ruiz dropped their first match of the day, but were victorious over Ashley Frew and Amanda Border of Toledo, 8-3, in their second match. Gillian Hush and Kelly Barry also suffered an early set back, but rallied to win their final doubles match of the day, 8-4, against Kowalski and Navarro of California University of Pennsylvania.

The Golden Eagles will complete play at the Spartan Invitational Sunday.
