Marquette Has Success In Day Two At Knights Invitational

ORLANDO, Fla - The Marquette women's tennis team continued play at the Knights Invitational hosted by UCF on Saturday at the UCF Tennis Complex.

The duo of Ana Pimienta and Erin Gebes continued the momentum from Friday's doubles win and defeated Morgan Bechtel and Gyanna Mandic from Florida Gulf Coast, 8-2 in the no. 1 slot. Vanessa Foltinger and Aleeza Kanner defeated Marina Diez and Zhoe Solaun, 8-1.

In singles action, MU took four singles matches over Stetson. Gebes earned her second victory of the weekend defeating Clarke Tatje (Stetson), 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 2 matchup. In the fifth spot, Kanner defeated MayaBlue Stauffer-MacDowell (Stetson) 6-2, 7-5 and Foltinger followed in the sixth position defeating Rachel Luke (Stetson) 6-0, 6-1. Aina Hernandez Soler also won her matchup defeating Sara Lazarevic 6-4, 6-4.

The Golden Eagles will conclude the Knights Invitational on Sunday beginning with doubles action against UCF beginning at 8:00 a.m. CT.
