Marquette Heads to the Wildcat Invitational

MILWAUKEE--The Marquette University women's tennis team heads to the University of Arizona this weekend for the Wildcat Invitational Oct. 3-5 in Tucson, Arizona. Competition begins daily at 9 a.m. Mountain Standard time.

The Golden Eagles will compete against eight other teams including Northern Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado State, Mississippi State, Texas State, UTEP, UTSA and the hosts, Wildcats. Play is set up in a multiple bracket event for singles and doubles action.

Last weekend, the squad competed in the Air Force Academy Invitational where senior Vanessa Foltinger shined in singles competition, winning all but one of her matches.

Erin Gebes and Paula Tormos Sanchez, contributed to MU's play by winning two doubles matches, including 8-4 victory against a duo from Air Force. It was the first time the junior and freshman have played together this season.

This is the University of Arizona's second year hosting the Invitational and first time MU will be competing at it.

Following the competition, MU will be back in the Midwest for the ITA Regional Championships in Champaign, Illinois. Oct. 17-21.
