Women's Tennis Set To Compete At Michigan State
Oct. 4, 2012
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's tennis team will be in action for the second consecutive weekend when it competes in the 23rd Annual Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational on Friday, Oct. 5 through Sunday, Oct. 7 in East Lansing, Mich.
Also participating in the Spartan Invitational will be Akron, Ball State, Cleveland State, Dayton, Illinois-Chicago, IPFW, Miami (Ohio), Michigan State, Purdue, Toledo, Wisconsin and Xavier. Play will be held at MSU's outdoor complex, unless there is inclement weather.
Marquette is coming off a respectable performance last weekend at the Knights Invitational in Orlando, Fla. The Golden Eagles played singles and doubles matches against Florida Gulf Coast, Stetson and tournament-host University of Central Florida in the three-day tournament. On the last day of competition, six MU players captured singles victories over FGCU. Freshman Erin Gebes has had a great start to her MU career and is 6-0 in singles play this season.
This will be the third-straight year that the Golden Eagles have played in the Spartan Invitational.
Results will be posted at the end of each day.
