MU Prepares For SMU Invitational

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's tennis team will being a three-day tournament in Dallas, Texas at the SMU Invitational from Oct. 7-9.

Marquette, hoping to build off its success at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic and Gopher Invite, will square off against 13 other schools which include: Abilene Christian, Air Force Academy, Gonzaga, Houston, Incarnate Word, Kansas State, ULM, Northwestern State, Sam Houston State, SMU, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, UT Arlington and UTSA.

The season began with a doubles title from the duo of Diana Tokar and Paula Tormos Sanchez at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.

The Golden Eagles continued their success when Fleur Eggink reached the final of the flight E singles draw at the Gopher Invite. Isabelle Franks also reached the consolation final in flight E at the Gopher Invitational. In doubles play, Eggink teamed up with sophomore Courtney Hebard to win their doubles draw.

The SMU Invitational will begin Friday with first serve slated for 11 a.m. CT.

After concluding play in Dallas, MU will send select players to the ITA Midwest Regionals in East Lansing, Mich. from Oct. 20-25. The tournament will be Marquette's last of the fall season.
