Women’s Tennis Back in Action in Dual Spots

MILWAUKEE—The Marquette University women’s tennis team is set for the ITA Regional Championship at the University of Michigan and the Arizona Wildcat Fall Invitational hosted by the University of Arizona this weekend.

The ITA Regionals will be held in the Varsity Tennis Center in Ann Arbor, Mich. starting on Oct. 12 to try to gain automatic berths to the ITA National Fall Championships presented by Oracle.

Competition will begin at 9 a.m. Central time on Thursday, Oct. 12 with qualifying singles first round. Doubles competition will see first service on Friday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m. with main draw doubles first round.

Marquette will be represented by lone senior Paula Tormos Sanchez, sophomores Fleur Eggink and Milica Novakovic and freshman Natalia Popovic.

Tournament seeds were definitively given to the top four competitors, and fifth through eighth were named, but not given seeds. Popovic was given the third seed in the tournament, while classmate Eggink was named in the group of fifth through eighth seed.

In Arizona, sophomores Isabella Franks and Lesley Foe and freshman Andrea Amortegui will begin play on Friday, Oct. 13.
