Fischer and Ruiz Win Doubles Championship at ITA 2nd Chance Tournament

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Christina Ruiz and Olga Fischer continued their stellar doubles play Saturday at the ITA 2nd Chance Tournament hosted by Western Michigan and won the doubles championship. The tandem earned a default win over Rachel Denny and April Kerr of Western Michigan and took down Chicago State's Dian Mayasari and Juan Rosalia Tejoprayitno, 8-4, in the title match.

Gillian Hush and Kelly Barry also teamed to win two doubles matches over NIU's Kathryn Friedland and Sara McLaughlin, 8-4, and UWM's Megan Gow and Sammi Schoen, 8-1.

The duo fell to UIC's Kovaleva and Simonetti in the consolation doubles final, 8-4.

In singles action, Hush and Barry also earned wins over their Northern Illinois counterparts in the Gold Flight. Barry easily took care of Martina Schnapp, 6-1, 6-0, and Hush defeated Sara McLaughlin, 6-3, 6-1.

The Golden Eagles will close out singles play at the ITA 2nd Chance Tournament Sunday at 8 a.m. ET/ 7 a.m. CT.
