Golden Eagles Complete Competition at the Kansas Fall Invitational

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's tennis team completed its fall season Sunday afternoon at the Kansas Fall Invitational. Highlighting singles play was strong finishes by Ali Dawson, Tina Radan and Olga Fischer.
Radan won the Draw E Championship. She took down Iowa State's Caroline Andersen, 6- 1, 2-6, 6-2, in the semifinals and Kansas' Barnthouse, 6-1, 6-3, in the championship match.
Dawson defeated Abeline Christian's Emily Conrad, 6-2, 6-4, to claim third place in Draw D, while Fischer captured the consolation title in Draw A following wins over Tessa Lang of Iowa State, 6-2-6-2, and Kauss, 6-2, 6-3.
In doubles action, Fischer and Rocio Diaz won back-to-back matches to claim the doubles consolation title Sunday afternoon. Diaz and Fischer earned 8-3 decisions over Indiana's Beckerman and Kyllman, and Iowa State's Andersen and Chartier.
In the championship doubles bracket, Radan and Gillian Hush placed sixth after falling to Garre and Alecia Kauss of Iowa State, 8-5.
The Golden Eagles will open the 2012 spring season Saturday, Jan. 14 at the IU Tournament in Bloomington, Ind.
