Golden Eagles Complete Play at ITA 2nd Chance Tournament

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Marquette women's tennis team completed play at the ITA 2nd Chance Tournament hosted by Western Michigan at the West Hills Athletic Club Sunday afternoon. Kelly Barry won two singles matches to take home the consolation title in the Gold Flight.

Barry defeated UWM's Maddy Soule, 6-1, 6-1, to earn her spot in the consolation final. Barry took down teammate Gillian Hush in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 in the final match Sunday afternoon.

Hush defeated Katarina Lingl of Michigan State, 7-6, 7-0, in the consolation semifinals.

Olga Fischer was also victorious in her lone singles match of the day. She rallied after a 6-7 (4) first set loss and beat Maddie Eccleston of Bowling Green, 6-4, 6-1.

The Golden Eagles will open the spring, championship, season Sunday, Jan. 23 against UIC at Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
