Marquette University’s Helfaer Tennis Stadium will host a professional exhibition match between John Isner (ranked 19th in the world) and Milwaukee native Tim Smyczek on Friday, Nov. 19, with all proceeds benefitting Summit Educational Association.

The evening’s activities will include a reception and silent auction, a doubles matchup featuring members of the Marquette tennis programs and a three-set singles contest between Isner and Smyczek. Tickets are available by visiting and will also be available for purchase at the door. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students. Capacity is limited, so advance purchase is advised.

Isner, a former NCAA champion at Georgia, gained international recognition with his 11-hour singles victory against Nicolas Mahut of France at Wimbledon this year. Smyczek is currently ranked 170th in the world and 13th among players from the United States.

“Our programs are excited to be a part of a special evening of tennis that is benefiting the kids of Milwaukee County,” MU head men’s coach Steve Rodecap said. “It’s always special to be involved with an event that brings a high level of tennis to the state of Wisconsin. It will be a great opportunity for our players to be engaged with the community while playing with two players of the caliber of Isner and Smyczek.”

Summit Education Association, Inc. To address the need for bridging the ever widening academic achievement gap between Milwaukee’s inner-city students and the state average, a group of businessmen established Summit in 1990 to offer individualized tutoring and mentoring to disadvantaged youth in conjunction with a virtue based character development program. Summit provides each student with a trained volunteer and a structured environment for the One-On-One Program during the school year and an intensive eight week academic, athletic and character enrichment program during the summer months.
