Women's Tennis to Close Fall Campaign at Purdue Invitational

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette women's tennis team will conclude its fall season at the Purdue Invitational Friday, Nov. 6 through Sunday, Nov. 8 in West Lafayette, Ind.
Penn State, Michigan State and Miami (Ohio) will join the Golden Eagles and host Boilermakers during the weekend competition. The Red Hawks boast the only nationally ranked singles player to compete at the Purdue Invitational in No. 122 Anastasia Dracheva. Miami (Ohio) finished last season ranked No. 70 in the nation.
On Friday, Marquette will face off against Penn State and Miami (Ohio) in doubles play. The Golden Eagles will also take on the Boilermakers Friday in singles action. Play continues Saturday as Marquette will compete against Miami (Ohio) and Penn State in singles. Sunday, Marquette will face Purdue and Michigan State in doubles, and square off against the Spartans on the singles side.
The Golden Eagles are led by freshman Kelly Barry, who has a team-best record 7-2 in singles. Senior Elly Strother boasts four wins on the fall, while sophomore Olga Fischer and junior Christina Ruiz have three wins, while and and junior Rachael Hush has registered four singles wins. The duo of Rachael Hush and Ruiz have been stellar as a doubles tandem with a 7-1 overall mark this fall.
