Marquette to Conclude Fall Campaign in Kalamazoo

MILWAUKEE-- The Marquette University women's tennis team will compete in its final 2014 tournament of the fall season this weekend in Kalamazoo, Michigan in the WMU Super Challenge. First serve begins Friday, Nov. 7 and finishes Sunday, Nov. 9 at the West Hills Athletic Club.

Singles action starts at 10 a.m. Friday, followed by doubles play at 2 p.m. Saturday opens with doubles at 10 a.m. and singles at 11 a.m. Sunday, the final rounds of singles play, begins at 9 a.m.

The Golden Eagles are one of five teams competing in the challenge. The others include Cincinnati, Indiana, Notre Dame and host, Western Michigan. This will be the MU's first competition since the ITA Regional Championships two weeks ago.

Marquette returns to the court with two of its three doubles tandems from the ITA Regional Championships, including the duo of senior Ana Pimienta and junior Erin Gebes. The pair currently boasts a 6-3 record for the fall campaign. Doubles will be played as a single 16-team compass draw.

On the singles front, all seven Golden Eagles will take part in one of eight round-robin draws featuring four players each. Junior Ali Dawson and Gebes enter with a win each from the regional championship. This will be Aleeza Kanner's, Diana Tokar's, Paula Tormos and Vanessa Foltinger's first competition since the Arizona Invitational back in the beginning of October. In that invitational, Foltinger won three out of her four singles matches.

After the WMU Super Challenge, Marquette won't play again until the IU Winter Invitational Jan. 17-19 in Bloomington, Indiana. Following the Invitational, the squad begins its individual team competition, starting with cross-town rival, UW-Milwaukee on Jan. 24 at Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
