Gonyo's MUTV Interview (10-9-08) 2008 (Sophomore): Gonyo started 28 of 29 matches in 2008 and saw action in 109 sets....finished the season second on the team with 107 blocks (21 BS, 86 BA) for an average of 0.98 per set...placed third on the squad with 229 kills (2.10/set)...finished second on the squad in hitting percentage (.220) among players with at least 40 attacks...helped squad finish fifth among BIG EAST teams with 2.38 blocks per set, and finish fourth in just conference matches with 136.5 total blocks for an average of 2.58 per set...recorded the tenth-best single match hitting percentage (.619 (14-1-21); min. 12 kills) among BIG EAST athletes versus Northern Illinois (Sept. 6)...Set career highs with 18 kills against in-state foes Green Bay (Sept. 13) and UW-Milwaukee (Oct. 20)...recorded a career-high 42 attacks against Green Bay (Sept. 13)...for her efforts against Temple (Sept. 12), Green Bay and Bowling Green (Sept. 13), Gonyo was named to the 2008 Marquette Challenge All-Tournament Team...notched hitting percentages of .500-or-above in five matches (Chattanooga (.750), NIU (.619), Temple (.500), UW-Milwaukee (.533) and Notre Dame (.517)). 2007 (Freshman): Gonyo, in her first collegiate season, was one of four players to see action in all 101 games, starting 24...finished second on the team in total blocks with 94, including 10 solo blocks for an average of 0.93 blocks per game...registered 170 kills on the season, averaging 1.68... against Oakland (Sept. 1) she recorded a season-high 16 kills...fourth on the team in total attacks, recording 463 while tallying double-digit attacks in 24 matches...logged a season high with 32 attacks against South Dakota State (Nov. 24) and registered a career-high attack percentage of .450 against Maine (Nov. 23)...accounted for 50 total digs on the season and had a season-high six digs versus Tennessee (Sept. 8). Prior to Marquette (Grant Community High School): Gonyo played four years as an outside hitter at Grant Community High School...as a sophomore she was named most improved...was a member of the Kaepa Wisconsin Junior club team where she was a known leader and has served as team captain.
