2009 (Sophomore): Her powerful hitting earned her most valuable player honors at the Marquette Invitational (Sept. 5), recording 52 kills in four matches, leading MU to a 4-0 record over Texas State, Butler (Sept. 4), Binghamton and Austin Peay (Sept. 5)...Earned BIG EAST Honor Roll mention for her play at the Marquette Invitational...Notched 12 kills in 3-2 loss to Ohio State (Sept. 12)...Jones' 14 kills combined with Ashley Beyer's 19 to help MU to a five-set victory over Dayton (Sept. 19), a team receiving votes in the AVCA Top-25 Poll...Recorded 14 and 11 kills, respectively, against Georgetown (Oct. 16) and USF (Oct. 18) in consecutive matches...Notched 12 kills against Syracuse, a team second in the BIG EAST standings at the time...In season finale against Central Michigan (Nov. 27), recorded 11 kills and no errors.
2008 (Freshman): Jones, a very powerful hitter, started four matches as a feshman and saw action in 39 sets...after recording 11 kills, two digs and three blocks to open the season against Houston (Aug. 29), injured foot prior to match against Chattanooga (Aug. 30) and was sidelined for the next 14 matches...recorded a season-high 12 kills and six blocks in upset victory at Notre Dame (Nov. 2)...registered a seeason-high four digs at Georgetown (Oct. 11) and at Villanova (Nov. 8)... turned in a seson-high hitting percentage of .625 (6-1-8) against Louisville (Oct. 24).
Prior to Marquette (Edgewater High School): Jones was a four year letter winner in volleyball at Edgewater High School...as team captain in 2007, Jones led Edgewater to the regional semifinals of the state tournament...selected as a member of the all-metro first team...recorded 297 kills, 136 digs and 55 blocks as a senior and 286 kills, 71 digs, and 35 blocks as a junior.
Personal: Jones was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Aaron and Jan Jones...has two brothers, Aaron III and Michael... father played football at Eastern Kentucky, was a NFL first round draft pick (18th overall) and played nine years in the NFL (Steelers, Patriots and Dolphins)...brother, Aaron III, was a high school All-America football player at Edgewater before playing at Florida State and Eastern Kentucky...younger brother, Michael, plays on the University of Michigan football team...majors in broadcasting.
