Todd Nelson is in his second year as an assistant coach on the Marquette volleyball staff.

Nelson came to MU after spending three years (1999-2001) as an assistant coach at Indiana State University. While at ISU, he coached setter Megan Mirs who closed out her career No. 2 all-time in the Missouri Valley Conference in assists with 5,080.

Prior to his stint at Indiana State, he spent six seasons with the University of Minnesota Duluth program under Pati Rolf, the last three as assistant coach. While coaching at UMD, Nelson also served as the head volleyball coach at the Marshall School in Duluth and was director and head coach of the Superior Coast Juniors USAV program. In addition, while he was at Indiana State, he coached for the Pacesetter Volleyball Team in Terre Haute for two years.

"I'm very excited about joining the Marquette program," said Nelson at his hiring. "There is a good deal of talent here and I am looking forward to helping this team win a Conference USA championship and get into the NCAA Tournament."

A native of New Richmond, Wis., Nelson received a B.A.S. degree in elementary education and a B.A. in communications from Minnesota Duluth in 1998. Nelson was a player and coach for the Minnesota Duluth Men's Club Volleyball Team after competing in baseball and basketball as a prep.
